Donation from District 3300, malaysia

District 3300 in Malaysia has donated RM3000 (about USD1,000) from their District Disaster Fund (RY 09/10) as support for the rehabilitation and rebuilding process.

Update on Rotary project applications

More than 140 applications have been made for assistance from the Rotary fund and alfeady $600,000 has been paid out.  The Earthquake Project team has received many offers of help, both physical and monetary from Clubs in New Zealand and overseas.  The St John project (see earlier Posting) has been fully funded and a Matching Grant application has been forwarded to The Rotary Foundation.  Thanks are made to the many clubs who allowed their DDF credits to be used.

$10,000 when the chips are down

Dunedin South Rotary Club's Charity Casino night last month was a great success.  Run in conjunction with the Dunedin East Charity Club, they raised close to $10,000 to go towards replacing the St John equipment damaged in the Christchurch earthquakes.  Dunedin South is now completing a Matching Grant application to maximise the funding for one of the most respected groups in the country

Classic car driver needed - Auckland to Christchurch

Wanted – a Rotarian able to assist a fundraising venture for the Christchurch earthquake. An Auckland donor has given his car to Rotary to be auctioned in Christchurch with proceeds going to Avonside Girls High School -most badly affected by the earthquakes. The vehicle is a classic car in pristine condition. The car needs to be transported to Christchurch and the option of it being driven to Christchurch by a Rotarian is one we are exploring. Enquiries please to PDG Stuart Batty at  stuartbatty@e3.net.nz (other contact details vaialable via http://www.rnzwcs.org.nz/

Brrrrrr !!!!

Snow turned Christchurch into a winter wonderland but after the earthquakes was this really wanted?  They soldier on!  Here are a couple of pictures showing the effects of the Antarctic blast.
